Each PDF page is rasterised on the server to PNG or JPG. The picker on this page allows 20 MB. DPI is clamped between 72 and 200 (the three menu values). Blank page field means every page, but all-pages mode stops at 150 pages. One page downloads as an image; several pages come back as a ZIP.

What you lose

Selectable text, links, and vector sharpness. Putting the images back into a PDF does not restore a text layer. Locked PDFs fail until unlocked. If the renderer is missing on the server the request errors instead of returning a blank image.

PDF to image questions

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG is lossless and keeps text and line art crisp, which makes it the better choice for documents and diagrams. JPG produces smaller files and suits photographic pages, but can add faint artefacts around small text.

Which DPI should I pick?

Use 72 DPI for small on-screen previews, 150 DPI as a general-purpose default, and 200 DPI when text is small or you intend to crop into the image. Higher DPI means more detail and a larger file.

How do I convert only one page?

Enter that page number in the page field. Leave the field empty to convert every page in the document.

Why did I get a ZIP file?

A single page downloads as one image. When you convert several pages, the images are packaged into a ZIP archive so they can be delivered together.

Is there a page limit?

Yes. When converting every page, the document is capped at 150 pages. Requests are also limited to ten per minute from the same address.

Will the text in the image still be selectable?

No. The output is a raster image, so the text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable. Converting the image back into a PDF will not restore the text layer.
