Decoded text
Decoding stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
What This Tool Does
Reads QR codes: Decodes a QR code from a photo or a live camera view.
Runs locally: Scanning happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Shows the payload: You can copy the text or URL. Links are not opened automatically.
How to Scan a QR Code
- Allow camera access and hold the code in the frame, or upload a still photo.
- Wait for the decoded text to appear.
- Copy it. If it is a URL, check the address before you visit it.
Limits
- Works best with a sharp, high-contrast code.
- This page reads QR codes, not 1D product barcodes.
- Camera access depends on the browser and requires a secure context.
Privacy and Processing
The image never leaves your device. We do not receive a copy of the photo or of the decoded text.

QR Code Scanner FAQ
Do I need to upload the photo?
No. Decoding runs in your browser. The image is not sent to our server.
Can I use my phone camera?
Yes, if the browser allows camera access. You can also upload a still photo of the code.
What if the scan fails?
Use a sharper, well-lit photo with the code filling most of the frame. Damaged or very low-contrast codes may not decode.
Does this generate QR codes?
No. This page only reads them. Use the QR Code Generator to create a code.
Is the result opened automatically?
No. The decoded text is shown so you can copy it. If it is a URL, check it before you visit it.
